Search Engine Marketing

SEO Success is Not Just About Ranking

You can get people to your site, but how will you keep them there?

It is a common misconception that the purpose of search engine optimization is to index a website as the first listing on the search engines for every targeted keyword or phrase. The evaluation of the success or failure of your internet marketing strategy involves much more than your rank on the page.

Once a visitor finds your website, you have 30 seconds to capture their attention. If your website has a high bounce rate (this can be viewed in most statistical packages), this means that a significant portion of the visitors to your website are not finding it engaging and/or relevant and leaving the website within 30 seconds. Google pays attention to the “stickiness” of your website and this factor can directly benefit or hurt your positioning.

Your statistical package is far more revealing on the success or failure of your internet marketing strategy then your website’s positioning on the page.
