3 Reasons Why Google Authorship is Important: Part II

blog-img

In our last blog post, we defined Google Authorship, and then went on to reveal how it can be beneficial for search engine optimization. In today’s post, we’re going to disclose – and demonstrate – how Google Authorship helps your practice stand out from the competition among a long list of search results.

To get caught up, check out 3 Reasons Why Google Authorship is Important: Part I.

Enhanced Search Results Listing

On a search engine results page (SERP) lacking diversity, viewers are likely to click on the first few listings without bothering to venture further than halfway down the page for an answer to their queries. Why? Simply because nothing stands out to them. Nothing captures their attention and invites their eyes to look elsewhere.

This is where Google Authorship comes into play. Suppose you had an Author Tag accompanying your listing while others did not? That smiling Google+ image of your’s (which we advise should be taken by a skilled photographer to convey optimal levels of quality and professionalism) would immediately draw the attention of viewers, even if your listing wasn’t the number one search result. For example, here’s a search for “New York City Plastic Surgeon.”

Of the four Google results, which one is your eye drawn to first? Most likely, it’s the one with the image of Dr. Stafford Broumand, as it clearly stands out from the other three.

If that were your listing, not only would the image attract the viewer’s attention, but they’d also be more inclined to click on the search result since they now have a face to put with the information provided them. This helps create a personal connection between you and your potential patients right off the bat. Additionally, they’d be able to easily access your Google+ account for more information about you, your practice, and what you have to offer, as well as view all other content pieces (procedural pages, blog entries, etc.) you’ve authored for your website – two major benefits of Google Authorship we’ll touch on in our next post.
