Online Video Continues to Grow at an Exponential Rate

Ten years ago streaming video on the Internet was merely an idea, and now it has grown into a major component of the Internet landscape.  Compressing videos into flash files and higher bandwidths has propagated the ability for videos to stream at a higher level, which in turn has ultimately created a better all-around consumer experience. It is hard to find a news, entertainment, product or health care website that does not have some sort of video component within.

In February 2005, a new kid on the block named “YouTube.com” changed the Internet forever.  Their catchy  slogan “broadcast yourself”  paved the way for individuals and companies to start broadcasting videos across the Internet for all to see. Needless to say, YouTube has been a great success story and now there are 100’s if not 1000’s of video sharing sites.

Today, 13 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute and it is continually growing exponentially. With the  ability to upload video from you phone or PC directly onto sites such as YouTube, the distribution possibilities are endless.

As Andy Warhol stated everyone will have “15 minutes of fame” with the advent of such technology as YouTube it appears he is going to be correct.
